Shipping & packaging DNA sample returns

DNA samples, whether shipped domestically or internationally, are subject to specific packaging and labelling requirements for air transport. Please follow all steps below carefully.

Before you ship

• Do not return your sample until you have registered your 3X4 Kit Code.
• Shipping from outside the continental US? Please refer to our international shipping options before proceeding.

Packaging instructions

Step 1 — Primary packaging

Place your sample vial in the leakproof mylar bag included in your kit, ensuring the absorbent pad is inside and the bag is securely sealed.

Step 2 — Secondary packaging

Place the sealed bag inside a rigid outer container with at least one dimension greater than 4 inches (10 cm). The cardboard tube from your 3X4 kit can be used for this.

Step 3 — Labelling

Mark the outside of your shipment clearly with the words EXEMPT HUMAN SPECIMEN. This can be handwritten or printed on the shipping label.
