Can my DNA sample get damaged by extreme heat or cold?

The DNA sample vial included in your 3X4 kit is designed to keep your sample stable at room temperature.

Extreme heat

High temperatures are unlikely to affect your sample. However, avoid leaving the vial in direct sunlight for extended periods, as prolonged exposure may cause the sample to degrade.

Extreme cold

If your vial freezes, before or after sample collection, that's okay. Just make sure to fully defrost it before collecting your sample.

Does sample quality affect my results?

The quality of your DNA sample does not affect the accuracy of your genetic results.

Every sample is checked against quality standards before processing. If a sample is unviable, it will be rejected and you'll be asked to recollect. In rare cases where a lower-quality sample passes inspection, it may limit the range of genes we can detect, but it will not result in a gene being misidentified.
